2026 Patriotic Parade Registration
“America 250 – Moments in History”
One of the many highlights of the annual Montrose, PA July 4th Celebration is the beloved Patriotic Parade, proudly presented by the Montrose Kiwanis and Lions Community Service Clubs. In 2026, the clubs will celebrate the 49th consecutive year of hosting this festive community tradition while honoring the 250th Anniversary of America’s Independence.
This year’s theme, “America 250 – Moments in History,” invites parade participants to celebrate the people, places, organizations, and events that have shaped our nation’s story. The parade will step off at 11:00 a.m. beginning on Grow Avenue and will feature marching units, bands, classic and antique vehicles, floats, and other entertaining parade participants.
Float Theme & Awards
A special highlight of the parade will be floats depicting this year’s theme, “Moments in History.” To encourage participation, organizations creating a themed float may receive a $200 reimbursement to help offset float design and construction expenses once criteria have been reviewed and approved.
In addition, two “Best in Show” float awards of $200 each will be presented to the floats selected by the judging committee.
Float Guidelines
To qualify for reimbursement and the float judging contest, floats should:
-
Clearly support the “Moments in History” theme
-
Depict a historical event, organization, or entity
-
Clearly identify the subject through signage or visual storytelling
-
Include decorations, costumes, and participants that enhance the historical presentation
-
Demonstrate creativity, artistry, and entertainment value
Registration Information
All parade participants must pre-register no later than Friday, June 26, 2026. Entries that are not pre-registered will not be permitted to participate in the parade.
Hometown Heroes
A special place of honor at the front of the parade will once again be reserved for our Hometown Heroes — those who have served our nation or community through military service or emergency services volunteering. Participants may walk or provide their own form of transportation and simply need to arrive at the parade starting area on July 4th.
Grand Marshals & Special Guests
This year’s Parade Grand Marshals will be the Susquehanna County Heritage Trails Committee, a coalition dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Susquehanna County for future generations.

Honorary Grand Marshals will include several outstanding student-athletes who achieved significant accomplishments this past year, including state and national championship teams and individuals from local schools.

A very special feature of this year’s parade will be the appearance of the Montrose Marching Unit Alumni Band, who have been invited to participate in Philadelphia’s national “Salute to Independence” parade before returning home to march in Montrose’s July 4th celebration.

We invite businesses, organizations, families, veterans, performers, and community groups to help us celebrate this historic milestone and become part of one of Montrose’s most cherished traditions.
Parade Route & Staging Area

As our parade continues to grow each year, space and timing have become increasingly limited. To ensure a well-organized and high-quality event, all participants are required to submit an application, and not all entries may be accepted if they do not meet parade criteria.
We’re also excited to share that one Best Float Award will be presented, with a $300 cash prize for the top entry. In addition, a $200 reimbursement for floats depicting a “Moment in History” will be distributed on the day of the parade, once criteria have been reviewed and confirmed.

All registrations must be in by June 25, 2026. Without registering to be in the parade, you will be turned away.
